Police Charge 3 for Trafficking in Fentanyl and Distribution of Cocaine
6/4/24: On Monday evening, members of the Beverly Police Drug Control Unit arrested Francis Alberto Carmona-Lara, 29 of Lawrence on charges of trafficking more than 10 grams of Fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute Class B Cocaine, refusing to identify self, and on an outstanding warrant, Juan Suarez-Lara, 38 of Lawrence on charges of trafficking more than 10 grams of Fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute Class B Cocaine, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to identify self, and on three outstanding warrants, and additionally charged Paul Farrar, 50 of Beverly on a charge of trafficking more than 10 grams of Fentanyl following an investigation into drug sales in the Broadway area of the city. Detectives had initiated an investigation into illicit drug activity in the area of Broadway and were conducting surveillance in the area when their attention was drawn to a dark colored Honda CRV occupied by 2 males that drove into a parking lot on Broadway parking next to a dumpster and remaining in the vehicle. A short time after the vehicle arrived a male party exited the building adjacent the parking lot and approached the vehicle. The male entered the rear passenger compartment of the vehicle which remained stationary. The male then exited the vehicle and began walking back towards the apartment building. Detectives approached the male seen exiting the vehicle as well as the vehicle in question. Detectives recovered a baggy containing approximately 68 grams of Fentanyl from the male identified as Farrar who had exited the vehicle. The operator and passenger of the Honda both initially provided false Dominican Republic drivers licenses to Detectives prior to being taken into custody. Both male’s true identities were discovered during the booking process. Detectives recovered a total of 98 grams of Fentanyl, approximately 14 grams of Cocaine, and $2,300.00 in cash from the vehicle occupied by Suarez-Lara, and Carmona-Lara. Both arrestees were expected to be arraigned this morning at Salem District Court.
