Firearms Licensing

To apply for a new Firearms Identification Card or License to Carry Firearms download and print a Firearms Application. You must mail your application to the attention of Lt. Michael Backstrom prior to receiving an appointment time. PLEASE ALLOW 30 – 90 DAYS FROM WHEN APPLICATION IS MAILED TO RECEIVE YOUR APPOINTMENT! DO NOT CALL FOR AN APPOINTMENT!

For Renewals – Please send application 3-4 months prior to expiration of your current firearms license.

Items needed at time of appointment:

  • Valid MA drivers license.
  • Current firearms license (IF RENEWING).
  • A $100.00 non-refundable check.
  • New applicants must additionally bring an appropriate firearm safety course certificate from an instructor who has been certified by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety and a Drivers license or positive ID.
