Community Advisory Council

The Beverly Police Department Community Advisory Council (CAC) is an all-volunteer committee representative of the City of Beverly. The CAC is intended to foster and facilitate communication and understanding between the Beverly Police Department and the community. It is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the City’s neighborhoods. The goal is to identify and prioritize community needs and concerns, as well as recommend measures for addressing them to the Police Department.

By developing a partnership between the community and the police, the citizens will become educated on police practices and procedures, and the Police Department becomes better informed about the community. We encourage all persons who live, work or use services in the community to participate in our council meetings. We are looking for new members who want to make a difference in our community. We welcome new participants to our group. If you want to help, listen and/or be involved, feel free to drop in to one of our meetings.

Our meetings are usually held at the Beverly Police Department, at 7 P.M. unless otherwise indicated.

CAC Accomplishments to Date:

  • The completion of 2 service brochures for use by the Police Department when on patrol and available at the Police Station.
  • The completion of several Citizen’s Police Academies.
  • Discussions of issues as they occurred, such as marijuana law changes, fraud presentation, domestic violence presentation, high school lock-downs, license plate reader, bike rodeos, and Massachusetts Law Enforcement Challenge (MLEC) traffic award.
  • The development and implementation of a comprehensive noise ordinance and motor cycle check points during the warmer months.
  • A recognition cookout for the Police Department.
  • The development and production of several BEVCAM television shows
  • We partnered with the Sheriffs Department for usage of their spray cleaning equipment and labor to clean up graffiti around the city. See the Anti-Graffiti Task Force page for more information.
  • A Police Explorer Post is being considered and the application to the Boy Scouts is currently under review.
  • Activities in Volunteers in Policing are forth coming, as well as the creation of a Police Department Foundation
