Services and Law Enforcement Walkthrough Announced for Sgt. Jeremy Cole
BEVERLY — Endicott College Police Chief Kerry Ramsdell announces that funeral services and a law enforcement walkthrough for Sgt. Jeremy Cole have been scheduled for Monday, Dec. 9.
A law enforcement walk through will be held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St, Beverly. A public Wake will then be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Sgt. Cole was killed in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day, when his personal vehicle was struck by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 95 in Newbury. Sgt. Cole was on his way home from a shift protecting the campus.
“To the approximately 1,000 people who attended a vigil for Sgt. Cole on Tuesday night, to the thousands who have offered condolences and thoughts online and in person, Thank You. Your thoughts and support have meant the world to our department over these past few days,” said Chief Ramsdell. “I encourage everyone who knew Sgt. Cole to continue sharing stories about him. He was a wonderful man, loving father, proud family man and a protector of our campus. We miss him dearly.”
Members of law enforcement are asked to arrive at the funeral home by noon, and to park at the Living Hope Church of the Nazarene, 556 Cabot St., Beverly, and at Saint John’s Church, 552 Cabot St., Beverly.
Members of law enforcement should wear appropriate winter departmental uniform, white gloves and badge shrouds. Rain coats are recommended in case of inclement weather.
A staging area for media who want to cover the walkthrough will be on the sidewalk on the north side of Cabot Street near the funeral home. There is not a designated parking area for media.
Members of the media are asked to refrain from filming the family, who continue to request their privacy as they grieve. In particular, members of the media are asked not to film the children of Sgt. Cole.
The Endicott College Police Department would like to offer a special thank you to Massachusetts State Police and the Beverly Police Department. Both departments have been instrumental in helping to plan funeral services and the law enforcement walkthrough. The department would also like to thank the Beverly Fire Department, the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, the Salem Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies for their assistance during this difficult time.
